Cougar Called to Suit Up For Slovakia

Prince George, BC – Prince George Cougars 19-year old forward Marek Viedensky will head to Saskatchewan to take part in the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championship for Slovakia.
This is the second consecutive year the Slovak National Junior Under 20 team has invited Viedensky to the World Junior Championship. Viedensky had four assists in seven games at the 2009 World Junior Championship in Ottawa, helping Slovakia to a fourth place finish. Team Slovakia will have a pre-championship camp, which includes two exhibition games. The 2010 World Junior Hockey Championship will begin in Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Saturday, December 26 and concludes on Tuesday, January 5, 2010.

“It means a lot for me to play for Slovakia again,” said Viedensky. “We’re a small country and there are not that many players in Slovakia and this is the best for me to play for Slovakia.”
In 21 games this season, Viedensky leads the Cougars in scoring with two goals and 14 assists for 16 points in 21 games.
Viedensky was selected in the seventh round, 189th overall, by the San Jose Sharks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft
