I recall something like this happening some years back in the same general area late at night as well. I believe about 6 youths were involved. In those days an attack like that was called "swarming" I think.

Perhaps when a robbery is involved, it is no longer a swarming, just an overpowering attack.
3:30 in the morning sheds a lot of light into this incident. Clothing in lieu of money owing? Hmmm? "The game is afoot, Dr. Watson."
Two posts until we start blaming the victim. Nice.
Not to blame the victim, but holy cow - who walks around CrackIntyre at 3:30 in the morning?
Perhaps the victim (being unable to afford a vehicle) was walking home after finishing a shift at a minimum wage type of job. We all can't be lucky enough to be employed by either the Municipal, Provincial, or Federal Governments.
This Gordon Cambell and/or the Owelympics' fault.
Six posts until we start blaming Gordon Campbell and the Olympics. Nice.
Heh, mt pg, right on.
Why, exactly are so many of you seemingly ready to surrender portions of the town to lawlessness. If it isnt safe to walk around in mcintire, maybe tomorrow it wont be safe in your neighbourhood. Now, its tru ei tend to be a hardass but even I realize that a lot of folk have to live places where they woud rather notlive. Those folks should be able to go outside without fearing for their lives.
Of course, the above would appear to be pointless if indeed the victim was criminally involved with the assailants (ie drug debt) but it really isnt. I dont care WHY he was robbed, it should be taken seriously. Also, if you take a mans boots, there ought to be mandatory jail time, period.
Pack heat. Nothing says justice like a smoking gun.
Perhaps the victim, after reading charles' constant diatribe about government workers and their pensions on Opinion 250, had to get out of his house to clear his head, LOL.

Obviously this is a troubling incident and unfortunately, these types of events seem to be becoming more common in PG in recent times. It's a symptom of other things that are going wrong in our society and city.
Make punishment fit crime. For too long the judicial system has been for reablitating crimnals instead of focused on what they were set up for in the first place. Protection of the law abiding public.
eight posts until we see a post about gun control. nice :P
Punishment fit crime.

Drop someone in the middle of a remote trail with bare feet and no coat. At least 1 hour walk to nearest house.

And return 10- times the amount of money stolen to the person stolen from.

Would that do?
I mean.... no warm bunk and free food for 1 year in prison. Hardly fits the crime to give someone free room and board at taxpayers' expense .....
Tase the bas**rd!
Just to Shed some more Light on this situation I am the Victim and no it was not a drug debt. And I did not ask for this.. I am a single dad who was enjoyin a night out which I dont get to often and was stright up beat down BAD for no reason at all... I used to love living in this town and Mcintyre or not you should be able to walk your niegborhood and not have to worry now I have watch my back just taking the garbage out Is that right???
My seven Year old daughter is so upset over this whole ordeal I mean yes maybe I shouldn't have gone out for a walk so late but I never Figured Something like this would happen either...

A presumption that the victim will give the police his utmost cooperation. I will wait.
Harbinger, you are such a douche. get a life.
If you walked the street, you deserve a beating for being such a negative prick......
NMG you are so mistaken. In my two decades of police service muggings, assaults....robberies have always been commonplace in this area of town. They just have not made the news that's all.
Big daddy, you sure as heck dont have to blame yourself! This town ought to be safe at night and folks have got to stop blaming the victims in a vain attempt to make themselves feel safer.
I'd be looking for some vengeance, but nothing that would add to the load on our medical and correctional systems.
The victim in this case would probably recognize the punks who did this to him.
Wait a few months, say February or so, take these boys for a ride, take their clothes from them, yes, all of their clothes, and drop them off somewhere, I can't decide, downtown? or maybe about twenty miles past Baldy Hughes. Heck, wait 'til bug season, because we would not want the pukes to freeze to death would we?
metalman.
Thank you caranmacil
B.P.P. Does yer mom know you talk like that? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
Not negative. Just objectively cynical. One tires of all the wrongs in the world, ya know.
