Prince George, B.C.- Northern Health’s NH Connections program, which provides transportation for clients travelling to non emergent health services outside their home communities, will take a scheduled break over the

holiday season.

NH Connections bus service will not operate between Friday, December 25th and Saturday, January 2nd. The call centre will be closed from noon on December 24th to Sunday, December 27th and from noon on December 31st to January 3rd.

This break will take place during a very slow period in health services. Health providers take  vacations and spend time with their families, and many patients choose not to undergo elective procedures during this time. The break will allow time for the fleet to undergo scheduled maintenance and provide the NH Connections drivers time with their families.

NH Connections bus service from Prince George to Vancouver will also take a scheduled break from February 12th to March 1st. The last bus to Vancouver will depart on February 9th, with clients returning on February 11th. Service to Vancouver will not operate during these two weeks as it is recognized that clients may have difficulty securing accommodations in Vancouver during the Olympics and travel within Vancouver may be delayed.

All other NH Connections routes will operate as regularly scheduled and the Prince George to Vancouver run will begin again on Tuesday, March 2nd.

Seems to me that this is a huge waste of money....What's wrong with travelling by Greyhound???
I agree, Greyhound and taxi vouchers would be a lot cheaper than a dedicated bus and staff and drivers. Of course the whole bus idea is just to pacify those of us who live 'beyond Hope' and to make us feel somewhat special. Not to mention it is a pretty good service, or so I have heard.
metalman.
My wife has used this system quite a few times. The drivers she's had were all excellent and seemed to care about their passengers. I can't say the same about that other bus company. Usually, the schedule of the NH Bus allows people from outside the PG area get into town, get to their appointment(s) and then get home again in the evening. Can't say that the Greyhound schedule is nearly as good.
"Slow period in health services?" Hmmm? I will believe that when they shut down a large percentage of the hospital. Duh! Delay and postpone any traveling needed. If yer not dying, it can wait, is what they really mean.
