The Northern BC Tourism Association has adopted a new business approach, dubbed the 'Stakeholder Model'...meaning that every active tourism business in the region is considered a stakeholder.
And the Association's goal is to build a comprehensive database of all such stakeholders in Northern BC. With that goal in mind, the Chief Executive Officer, Dawn-lisa Sethen, has announced the creation of a new position, Stakeholder Relations Coordinator.
Heather MacRae, a grad of UNBC's Resource Recreation Tourism program in 2001, has been hired for the job. MacRae's initial duties will be to collect information on existing tourism businesses from regional districts, regional tourism organizations and word of mouth. It's expected the existing database will grow from 300 to somewhere in the neighbourhood of 3,000.
Dawn-lisa Sethen says, "The result will be that the Northern BC Tourism Association can better serve the region in its role as the destination marketing organization."

Job creation in the making?
And where does the money come from to support this new position?
And what is the salary?
Always so much left out of these reports.
Now just what form of information could one garner from an existing tourist business?
Is this another way to "stick their noses" in other peoples businesses??
If they came near me, and I were in the tourist business, I would tell them to take that good old proverbial "flying leap at a galloping goose."
Resource Recreation Tourism course???
What are they going to come up with next???
