Mr.P.G. Gets Into Olympic Spirit

Prince George, B.C.- Mr. P.G. is ready to welcome the Olympic Torch Relay when it comes to Prince George on January 29. Mr. PG is all decked out with a scarf, red mittens similar to those worn by the 12,000 torchbearers in the relay and a special torch. The accessories were put together by Task Force members Roy Olsen and Lisa Shaw-McLaren. "We are lucky to have creative individuals like Roy and Lisa to help us mark the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay in a way that’s unique to Prince George," says Task Force Co-chair Dave Wilbur. Mr. PG’s new look includes a 27 foot red fleece scarf, red felt mittens and of course a torch. The torch itself is created from chloroplast signboard, a recycled street banner and a special light to replicate the flame. The Olympic Torch Relay comes through Prince George on January 29. A community celebration is planned for Exhibition Park from 6:00 – 8:00pm. The family event is free and open to the public. There will be dazzling entertainment, special presentations, a spectacular fireworks show and more. Local Alix Wells has been named the community torch bearer.
