Prince George, B.C.- Winnipeg Police Services are looking for information on a   Victoria to Montreal crime spree.
According to Winnipeg police, the fraud   would see one person call a business, usually a large chain store, and order thousands of dollars in gift cards.   A person would show up the following day and pay for the gift cards with what appeared to be a certified cheque. The cheque was a fake, but a very good fake. The delay between the delivery of the gift cards and the banking system realizing there was no such   account was, in   some cases,   almost a month.
This fraud has been perpetrated dozens of times across the country within the last two months with some businesses just finding out now that the “certified cheque” was bogus. To date, one large chain store in Prince George has been defrauded of $13 thousand dollars.
Two young women are in custody in Winnipeg, accused of being the perpetrators of this fraud.
Anyone with   information or who believes they were caught in this fraud,   is asked to contact the Prince George detachment of the RCMP at   250-51-3300 and ask for Constable Cody King.

These are the two women alleged to have been in Prince George.

$13,000 in gift cards? That's a lot of gift cards. Most cards have identification numbers and use a declining balance and therefore should be relatively simple to track. Cancel the cards electronically. The merchant will then not suffer as great a loss. The article did not state whether the cards were cashed, only that a fraudulant cheque was issued to the merchant. If the cards haven't been cashed there is no loss.
I would assume that with a one month delay, the cards have been maxed out some time ago.
I have pre-rolled my eyes when it comes to the sentencing of these crooks, if convicted. Crime and Punishment? Ha ha ha . When pigs fly. The one on The Simpsons doesn't count.
I need those two young women on my marketing team!
I assume they did not look like that when they passed the certified cheque(s) and picked up the gift cards.

I mean, they did not even use the cards to get a makeover for themselves.
"I would assume that with a one month delay, the cards have been maxed out some time ago."

Possibly...but never assume right gus?

"I need those two young women on my marketing team!"

LOL
Wow....HOT! At least they should be fairly safe in jail.
Okay .... I won't assume

I'll do what others do.

1. I bet that with a one month delay, the cards have been maxed out some time ago.

2. I bet they did not look like that when they passed the certified cheque(s) and picked up the gift cards.

:-)
Methinks they shoulda been air brushed and or photo shopped. Must be the non-flattering light.I'm sure they thought about buying some make up with a card or two. Maybe next time.
Stay off the drugs kids.
