Prince George, BC- In partnership with the City of Prince George, UNBC’s Institute for Social Research and Evaluation has conducted an annual public opinion and quality of life survey with a different focus each year since 1994. This year's survey is focused on items relevant to the City’s myPG initiative including public opinion regarding the use of tax dollars.

The myPG/Official Community Plan project will undertake the development of two key initiatives that will together, through community engagement and public consultation, establish the long term vision for our City and establish the City’s direction toward long-term goals and targets. Additionally, the public opinion survey also includes questions about our social environment, our standard quality-of-life questions and demographic questions that allow us to trace trends since 1994.

3000 households were randomly selected and have received surveys. Responses from the public opinion survey will help City Council and UNBC research understand the variety of issues facing our residents and help make better use of City tax dollars.

Although the original deadline to submit the City of PG Opinion Survey was listed as December 15, 2009 this deadline is being extended and surveys will continue to be accepted until January 14, 2010 to allow residents additional time to provide input. The success of this initiative depends upon large numbers of people willing to complete and return questionnaires.

A summary of research results will be published for general use and the aggregate data will be presented to city personnel for planning purposes.
