Prince George, B.C. - One of the thirty-four (34) police vehicles, performing Christmas Counterattack Road Checks, sustained minor damage in a collision on Domano Blvd and Nicholas Street last night.

At approximately 11:30 pm, the police vehicle was stationary, parked in the slow lane of Domano Blvd eastbound, with its emergency equipment activated. The police officer had just entered his police vehicle and was sitting in the driver seat at the time. The collision occurred when a small passenger vehicle approached the road check eastbound in the slow lane of Domano Blvd. The driver was distracted by the road check activity in the westbound lanes and didn't react to the fully marked police car in the lane in front of her, with its emergency lights activated.

The police vehicle had only one occupant; the officer sitting in the driver's seat.
The small passenger car also had only one occupant.

The police officer sustained minor injuries, which did not require any treatment. The driver of the small passenger vehicle sustained no injuries in the crash.

The Prince George Municipal Traffic Unit is investigating the crash along with a Collision Reconstructionist. The cause of the crash is attributed to the driver not paying attention to the road ahead, while watching the activity in the westbound lanes. Charges of “Driving Without Due Care and Attention” pursuant to Section 144(1) of the B.C. Motor Vehicle Act have been laid against the driver of the small passenger vehicle.

And the guy who had a two beers is the major concern... Anyone who can drive into a police car with its lights flashing shouldnt have a license - period. I dont want to be on the road with them.
Perfect!!! But I can't help but wonder if there was a small passenger vehicle involved.
There's not even an (N) in the back. So this is a seasoned driver?
Emergency Lights DON'T seem to be Activated in the Picture Above.DON'T you think this would be a good time to have them on.
Good catch lou.....

I ma wondering who took the picture. The policeperson is sitting in the patrol car. The driver of the blue vehicle does not seem to be so that may be who took the picture.

No damage visible on the police car. I have an enlarged version of the picture.

Also looks like the patrol cars reverse gear is activated, unless they have backup lights that can be activated without putting it into reverse gear. The only light coming from the rooftop lights is reflected light from the street lamps.

It also looks like neither vehicle has headlights on. I see no brighter area in front of the cruiser, nor do I see tail lights on in either car, although that may be because they are relatively weak with the flash used on the camera.

Anyone can get distracted by issues in the other lane. I bet most of you almost rearended someone while observing a traffick incident..
See how nice and bright they are in daylight.

The driver might be going to court with that picture she likely took... :-)

On another note, this RCMP officer seems to be in the spirit of things .....

Yes, rubbernecking is a common activity. The question is, the RCMP knowing that, did they set up a safe site? They do have that due diligence responsibility.
I wasnt aware that there was "slow lane". So the inside lane must be the "fast lane". Then is that the lane you get dinged in for speeding?

In driver training they always told me that the inside lane was the "through lane" and the outside Lane was the "off on lane" and that the speed limit applied to both lanes.

But then there are those that have problems reading road signs. Why would they now where to drive.
Cheers
There are no backup lights activated on the police car, Gus.
Seems straight forward to me, but where is Domano Blvd and Nicholas Street??????
I think Nicholas is the street going to the College Heights Pub.
Maybe she was texting.?????
She could have been sneezing!
Oh come on guys, which of you has NEVER almost hit another car or gone off the road in a moment (or two) of distraction? Anyone with their hand up is a liar! Give the woman a break.
