Williams Lake RCMP say one man suffered serious injuries in a shooting mishap that occurred in a rural area of the Cariboo on Boxing Day.

Corporal J.R. Pilszek says two men had been out on a hunting expedition, approximately 40-kilometres outside of 150 Mile House, when one of the men was shot.

Corporal Pilszek says the injured man was initially taken to Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, but had to be medi-vaced out for further treatment.

Pilszek says the other man was taken into custody, but later released.  He says the shooting is believed to be accidental, although the investigation is continuing.

No further details surrounding the incident are available at this time.  The names and hometowns of the men involved have not been released.
