RCMP ‘E’ Division Project E-Peccant investigators have arrested William Mastop, 43, a Vernon based lawyer for his alleged involvement and dealings with organized crime.
Mastop, who was arrested late this morning, has been charged with “Participation in Activities of Criminal Organization” for his involvement with “The Greeks” a group based out of the Okanagan that currently has 5 members who are in custody and before Vancouver Court on 3 homicide charges, and that was known to have dealings with the Calgary Chapter of the Hells Angels, the Kelowna East Side Chapter of the Hells Angels and suspected ties to the UN Gang in the Lower Mainland.
“This was and continues to be an incredibly complex investigation involving RCMP resources from around British Columbia,” explains Sgt. Rob Vermeulen, ‘E’ Division Media Relations.
Mastop is currently scheduled to appear in court in Vancouver on Monday, January 25, 2010.
“While Mr. Mastop has been arrested and charged, it is our belief that members of the public may have additional information regarding his activities and association with the Greek organization. We are asking anyone who has had dealings with Mr. Mastop where things appear out of the ordinary, or any other information related to the Greek organization, to contact their local RCMP detachment or call 250-260-7142,” says Sgt Vermeulen.
