now how does Eagleone's comment about this not get deleted?
people are allowed to say what they want, it is a free country.

HOW MANY LIVES LOST FOR OUR FREEDOM......
Sometimes I do open my mouth more than I should... I'll leave it to the site moderators to decide if its over the line....
As long as any of you don't say whether this man is guilty of any of the offences he is charged with, you won't be deleted.

The fact you knew him is not a suggestion of admission of guilt.

No, you are not allowed to say what you want in this country, there are still libel laws
defamation.....I still say we lost many good people who fought for our freedom and now I have to watch what I say.......many lives lost for nothing.
"defamation.....I still say we lost many good people who fought for our freedom and now I have to watch what I say.......many lives lost for nothing."

Why are the lives lost for nothing. The lives were lost to protect the freedom of people in this and other countries.

http://www.canadianlawsite.ca/libel-slander-defamation-of-%20character.htm

from that site: "A central theme through the ages has been that the reputation of the individual is of fundamental importance"

That is partly what the fight was for. Freedom of speech is not the right to say anything one wants to. There are conditions. The avoidance of defamation thorugh libel or slander is one of those conditions.

As Ben pointed out, eagleone's post was not libelous. Why not? Because he related a first hand experience with this person. That individual could still say it is lebelous and sue him. Eagleone would then have to show that it is true. If he can, the truth is the best defense against libel.
I don't think Billy would think anything of it. He knew I was in just about as much danger as he was at the time. It was one of those situations where your friends disappear and your stuck trying to get rid of a guy you don't want anything to do with. Some people you just don't want to cross because they are unpredictable. Hate to say it but as bad a guy as Billy is... in that situation I would have rather he stuck around to drink his beer. I was worried about losing my truck at the time. Fortunately I was able to play it cool because buddy liked me and so I was able to ditch buddy soon after at another party and ended up with all the beer plus still had my truck. Learned about a whole new class of people to avoid that night. This town is full of those types especially in the bar scene and they live for violence.
