The Salvation Army's 2005 Christmas Kettle campaign did a booming business...
The Sally Ann had set a goal of reaching last year's total of $100,000.00, but far surpassed that, collecting $151,000.00 over the month-long fundraiser.
There had been concerns with about two weeks left in the campaign that the target would be missed due to a lack of kettle volunteers, but, in the end, almost every shift was filled.
This year's campaign ran from November 25th to December 24th at 15 locations across the city -- in the downtown, College Heights and the Hart.
The money raised will fund programs for those in need, including: the hot meals program, food hampers, toys & school supplies, and emergency shelters.

We are thankful and grateful for this organization and all of the volunteers who make the Salvation Army work.
I heard that the Salvation Army was not going to be doing food hampers this year.
Apparently, food vouchers were going to be used instead. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, how did it work out? How many vouchers were handed out? What was the value of each voucher?
I'm just interested in how much more effective this strategy is compared to actual food being given?
