The specifics are being kept hush-hush, but a new community youth program is set to be unveiled early in the new year.

2010 Legacies Now Chief Executive Officer, Marion Lay, has called a news conference at the Coast Inn of the North in Prince George for Thursday, January 12th to announce the launch of  "an exciting new Prince George community youth program."

Lay says the group is committed to working with community partners to develop and support initiatives to ensure every region of the province benefits from arts, volunteer, literacy, sports and recreation legacies that come from hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver/Whistler.

Education Minister Shirley Bond and Prince George-Omenica MLA John Rustad are scheduled to speak at the news conference.  And, while few hints are being given on details of the program, Tabor Mountain Ski Resort, Bell, and the City of Prince George logos are on the Legacies Now news release.

I wonder if this is a government initiative, or something developed at a community level?

It does surprise me to see something directed at our youth.

I am awaiting this announcement with interest, as I don't recall much focus ever being directed at our youth from a government perspective. Chester
You can bet if the government is involed it isn't all they say it is...if you take prior events as a norm....
