Prince George, B.C. – Building permit values in 2009 for in the City of Prince George were about half of what had been issued in 2008.

The good news is, things look to be picking up as the stats for December 2009 alone are about twice the value of permits issued in the same month   of 2008.  The boost is largely because of renovations to existing facilities for institutional uses. In particular, 1411 Third Avenue for Northern Health office space, upgrades to a 22nd  Avenue  facility, and an addition to the Carrier Sekani Family Services site on Third Avenue.

The difference  in the revenue steam for the City is likely  to add more pressure on the development  of budget  that will require only a minimal  increase  in  taxes.
