Tents at the Vanderhoof firecamp
If the weather stays cool and wet, the Tatuk Lake fire could soon be fully contained. The blaze that engulfed 12,500 hectares near Vanderhoof, is now 80%contained. It is possible crews could soon be in the mopping up stage. While it looks quiet at the firecamp, there are still more than 340 firefighters on site.
Fire danger rating for the region remains low to moderate.
Since April 1st of this year, there have been 116 lightening sparked forest fires in the Prince George Fire Centre. A further 66 have been started by humans.
