PG Residents Are Button-Boosters

Prince George, B.C. - Tourism Prince George issued a call-to-action in the run-up to these Olympic games, and it seems city residents have answered...
In a bid to establish a presence at the Games, Tourism Prince George invited residents heading to Vancouver or Whistler to become ambassadors for the city, and wear specially created buttons. (click here, for previous story)
Annie Doran says TPG had 8,000 of the "Prince George: More Than You Can Imagine" buttons made and only 2,000 remain at the local tourism office. Doran says one woman stopping in to pick up her batch of buttons, said she was so proud of Prince George, she couldn't wait to boast about the city to others. Doran says trading buttons is probably the number one "unofficial" sport at the Olympics and she's hopeful the local pins will just "put Prince George out there." She admits this is probably Tourism Prince George's first organized attempt to mobilize local citizens in an effort to sell the city, but feels it really could garner international attention.
TPG is also inviting local residents to share their Olympic experiences, and any photos, on its website. Doran says she expects most of that feedback will come after the Games, as anyone directly involved in volunteering or working has been told by Vanoc officials they must remain tight-lipped during the events.
