REAPS AGM Open To All

Prince George, B.C. - The city's Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society, or REAPS, is into its 21st year, but its top priority remains unchanged: awareness.
REAPS began in 1989 and Executive Director, Terri McClymont, joined the non-profit, charitable organization in 1995. She says awareness about the 3 R's -- reducing, reusing, and recycling -- is always a top priority.
For McClymont, getting that message out there is a "labour of love". The society relies heavily on funding from the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, gaming funds, and other partnerships to deliver its school and outreach programs. REAPS covers the recycling gamut, from vermi-composting to how-to-green-your-business.
This year, McClymont received funding to allow her to hire two interns and, as she puts it, "basically, clone myself" to deliver those programs to greater numbers. But the positions are slated to end in August, unless the grant is renewed or new dollars are found. She says she's always taxed in terms of staffing and is always looking for volunteers.
REAPS annual general meeting goes this afternoon at 2pm at the Northern Interior Health Unit. McClymont says the public is welcome to attend. Guest speaker, Anne Hogan will discuss Freecycle Prince George.
