23rd Annual PG Iceman Goes Today
By 250 Sports
Prince George, B.C. - This year's PG Iceman will be in name only...
Environment Canada says the temperature will hold steady at about 4-degrees C through this morning and will climb only slightly, to 6-degrees C, through the day.
That's unseasonably warm weather for Prince George's winter multi-sport event, which has seen frigid conditions over the course of its 23-year history in the city.
Just what challenges the warmer weather will pose will play out over the course of today's race, but the 5-km skating leg of the event at the Outdoor Ice Oval could be particularly tricky.
The Iceman starts at 10am this morning with an 8-km ski at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Centre, followed by a 10-km run to the oval, the skate, another 5-km run, and an 800-m swim to finish the event at the Aquatic Centre.
