Tentative Deal Goes To Local 1-424 Members

The head of the USW's BC Wood Council was in Prince George over the weekend to announce a tentative package that, Bob Matters describes as "unique and innovative". (click here for full details) 

Matters says the wording contained in the deal is unprecedented in the history of collective bargaining in our province in terms of the job security it maps out.  He says he's certain union members will take great confidence in it, once they see the particulars.

Matters would not disclose the length of the proposed package or any wage increases...saying the union wants to brief members first.

He expects ratification votes to be complete in a few weeks time.
