Prince George, B.C. -  For the second time this week, RCMP have busted a large marijuana grow op in the Prince George area...

Three men from the lower mainland are facing charges in connection with the latest bust in a rural area, east of Prince George.

Members of the Prince George RCMP's Crime Reduction Team found approximately 800 pot plants during the execution of a search warrant on a home located on Shelly Road South.  The officers also recovered evidence indicating that electrical power was being diverted, so it wasn't being registered on the property's hydro meter.

The three people taken into custody have been charged with several drug related offences, including theft of hydro.  They've been released from custody on the condition that they not come within 100-km of the city of Prince George.

The trio is slated to be back in court on May 4th.

Sell it and give the money to the City so they do not have to raise our taxes again. Or the RCMP could get their three more members. Or maybe use the money to fix the roads. Such a waste to destroy it.
heh heh...first time I have heard someone released on thier own recognizance and ordered not to come into town.
RCMP's Crime Reduction Team

A special name for a "special" crew.
With all the resources and "special" name, why are the going after run of the mill agriculture?

Low hanging fruit because they rely on Hydro to report illegal hookups and public tips. It's not like they are doing any real police investigation to address the issues that are harming our citizens.

That to me is an indication of their overall competence. Just like their summer routine of catching that highly dangerous criminal called "speeders". They take the easy road like the average person, but they are supposed to be beyond average.

I guess this city does not have any REAL police investigators to squash the crack, meth, E, and heroin: along with any gangs as well. They are just simply not able to do any REAL police work so they go after the prohibited farmers.

One supporting point I have is the fact that a known organize crime association has a "club house" in south fort George and nothing has been done about it. There is supposed to be a war on gangs as well as drugs. How many times have we seen police members riding along with patched members with full colors?

It is job security for the police not to arrest ALL criminals.

Superintendant Butterworth Carr, are you proud of your low hanging fruit harvesters?
Thank you Loki for continuing to echo my opinion.
I thought the 'well known organized crime association' clubhouse was in the VLA.
metalman.
Huge cash crop we are missing out on just because the neo cons don't want to make it legal.
"It's not like they are doing any real police investigation to address the issues that are harming our citizens."

You mean, like the organized crime and gangs running this grow-op? I say, anything you can do to take away their income source is a positive thing.

"Huge cash crop we are missing out on just because the neo cons don't want to make it legal."

Neo-cons? You've been reading Eagleone's posts a little too much, I think.
hmmm with all the grow op busts maybe I should start a company to help the RCMP "dispose" of this crops!! cause I am starting to run out of clean wood to burn in my firepit!!
I agree MrPG. Regardless of whether or not this drug should be legal (I, personally, am all for legalization), it is directly funding orgainized crime and every little bit taken away from them is a good thing.

Does anyone care that Prince George is turning into nothing more than a dope growing city, full of grow ops that aren't even operated by people who live here? Doesn't anyone want more from our city? These same people that think PG is a dump and want to see it turn around want these grow ops left alone and think it's not a big deal. I, for one, am disgusted that our city has turned into this "pot hole" and I would like to see more and more of these operations shut down! It may not seem like a big deal to some, but this pot is traded for cocaine across the border and it is obvious from the sheer numbers of grow ops busted recently that this is a huge contribution to the income of organized crime business.

We are talking hundreds and hundreds of plants seized, not some local guy growing a dozen plants in his basement to supply his dope smoking friends. Wake up people, this DOES make a difference!
Where does it say anything about a gang connection to this event or any this year?
The only mention is of lower mainland residents.
You are assuming that because gangs are suspected of being drug distribution systems that all grow ops are connected to organized crime.
Granted, they have the ability for the larger distribution networks, but in my personal experience, I have yet to meet a pot dealer with anything other than an arms length business association with a gang member.

Gangs are more about prostitution, intimidation, gambling, and extortion. You know, the stuff that impacts the average person. Yes, there is some drugs, but not to the extent that the propaganda machine would have you believe. It is just part of parcel of their income stream.

The majority of grow ops are individuals or SMALL groups making a little bit of extra cash. It is very entrepreneurial. Gangsters are too lazy to be that entrepreneurial and can make way more money with the aforementioned activities.

If gangs were involved, I highly doubt they would be dumb enough to allow an illegal hydro bypass because they know that is a sure way to get busted. The police would never find it, just like they are not capable of finding the major players that ship literally tons and never get close enough to be associated. Another example of the police's incapability to successfully detain the real players and not just the street dealers.

It is nothing more than a budget game for the police. No criminals, no work. Lots of crime, bigger budget to "fight the war on crime", that is why they plan to FIGHT the war on crime rather than plan to actually win it. The police don't want this war to end.
What happens to all the growing equipment? Is it destroyed or is auctioned of by the provincial government to some up and coming potential grow op operators to start their
careers anew? Win win for the druggies. They get to buy back their equipment cheap, make another grow op and the RCMP do it again. Win, win, win. For the growers, for the cops, for the provincial government coffers and then we start again. Stupidity par excellence.
"Where does it say anything about a gang connection to this event or any this year?"

Yes, I'm sure this was a mom and pop operation. Personal use only! lol!
Is it just a coincidence that all these growop busts lately started about the same time the police started asking for a bigger and more modern building and more staff to fight the increase in crime?
you are assuming

It may be your opinion, but it is an assumption.

In my post I did not mention for personal consumption, I explicitly stated "to make some extra cash".
So it is still about sales of product, just not with as much gang involvement as sheeple believe.

Canada 2007 production
$18,000,000,000 per year
3,750 tons per year

acopolympics: see my second long post
Give the people something to make money with because the trees they er not making anyone anything expect a bloody eyes sore. Great city to become a social worker that coddles the drug addict.
I bet all you posters are working for the gov anyways so what do you care.
Come on Loki, even you can't believe what you are saying. Much of BC's marijuana is traded in the US for harder drugs through grow-ops much like this one.

"sheeple", lol. There's a term that comes out when you've got nothing coherent to add to an argument. That's my observation anyway.

honestly the asians ya throw them in jail but if nots gang affiliated who really cares..so lets look at the stats how many homicides solved in the last year? how many major cocaine busts? not many time to stop wasting are money on weed and crack down on coke and heroin oh ya none of these guys even had guns or nothing
oh ya loki spits the truth ive never met a crack dealer in my life that doesnt sleep until 3 in the afternoon let alone that has the energy to setup a huge grow op..these are older men in there 40's with nothing but time on there hands i would imagine
Loki, your dealer buddies are considered losers even by the other criminals supplying them with product to sell. Take away their supply and problem solved. The gangs are making a small fortune off your loser friends.
There is absolutely no doubt that these grow ops are gang related. The people growing the pot,may be so called normal people, however the people they sell the pot to are criminals. To think otherwise is foolish.

I dont beleive for a minute that the Police were the first to ask for a new Police Station. The way things work in this City, it is more likely that the Chief of Police was approached by the City and asked if he wanted a new Police Station.

Much like IPG set up a meeting with interested people in the City and asked them if they wanted a Performing Arts Centre. Then formed a committee with these vested interest groups and set out to convince the rest of us that we want a PAC.

Same as the Community Energy System. How many people in Prince George were asked if they wanted this Project???? Try None.

What about the upgrade to River Road. Business located on River Road actually told the City they did not want the upgrade, and got it anyway.

Who the hell asked for the Boundry Road connector. Maybe a few vested interest people, but certainly not the majority of people in Prince George, who as taxpayers will have to pay for it.

Same thing with the sale of BC Rail. The Province set up the Northern Trust Initiative, and gave them $500 Million to give or loan to various enterprises in North Central BC. Who the hell asked for a Northern Trust Initiative. Who voted for these people and allowed them to distribute tax dollars. Try nobody. Who the hell authorized them to load $11 Million to the Airport Authority. Certainly not the taxpayers.

All this money and these projects are being pushed by vested interests, and politicians at the expense of the taxpayers. If we got rid of most of this deadwood, we would have ample money in the budgets to look after things that really matter.
When it is read that PG is the "hub" of the north, they aren't kidding. Legally and ilegally.
There seems to be a lot of "asian" gang affiliation which are targeted-is it possible their competition is using the crime stoppers # to help them corner the market ......mmmmmmmmm
"If we got rid of most of this deadwood, we would have ample money in the budgets to look after things that really matter."

Get rid of one group of deadwood .... and replace it with another ....

Love it!!! Real progressive thinking there.

How about getting rid of ALL the deadwood and get some people in place who understand how the economy of a city actually works, who have been successful ion other places and can point to what has worked, understand why it worked, and can apply it to the local situation once more because they have already applied it to at least two other situations that show that they know what they are doing and it was not just a fluke.
where do you think these guys spend all there money they make?....THE COMMUNITY
