Smithers- A 30 year old man has died from stab wounds and a 23 year old female is in custody following the  incident Monday in Smithers.

 

On Monday, March 1, 2010 at approximately 4:20 pm, Smithers RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive male suffering from stab wounds, at a trailer located in the Laidlaw Trailer Park, in Smithers. Police and BC Ambulance personnel attended and provided CPR to the male. The 30 year old local male was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 23 year old local female, located at the scene by police, was arrested. She is currently being held in custody pending an appearance in Provincial Court later today. The specific charges are yet to be determined.

 

Domestic violence and alcohol are factors in this investigation.

 

The police investigation remains in its initial stages. North District Major Crime Unit, from Prince George, the Terrace Forensic Identification Unit and the BC Coroners Service are assisting in this investigation.
