Open your eyes people!

Government.. Send these people back to driver training on their dime, and then graduated licensing. Or lose the ability to drive.
Pedestrians should watch where they are going as well. I shop at the Superstore a lot and a lot of people step off the sidewalk everywhere not looking at all. I am not saying it was the pedestrian's fault, but you have to be defensive no matter where you go. Also, Superstore should stop people from parking along the sidewalk. It is supposed to be a fire lane, but a lot of people are too lazy to walk down a couple rows to get to their car, so they just park by the sidewalk.
I didn't finish my thought in the last post. People step out between these parked cars along the sidewalk and someone driving by with another vehicle has no chance to stop sometimes.
I hope the guy's OK.

Personally, I've always felt that there should be no vehicles (other than emergency vehicles) allowed to drive between the parking lot and the store front at the Superstore. (and Canadian Tire, and Home Depot and Costco...)

Oh yeah, good-bye "Don Frye"; hope you enjoyed your visit to opinion250. :)
I'm not a perfect driver by all means, but these days when I am driving on the road between the store and the lot or through the lot I go pretty slow knowing that some pedestrians have an absolute disregard for their own safety and will walk out without looking.

What worries me when driving are the pedestrians and bicyclists I often see up here on the Hart who go around at night in dark clothing with no lights or reflectors or anything to reveal their presence until you are right on top of them. A lot of the pedestrians are walking on the right side of the road so they can't see vehicles approaching them.
ladies and gentlemen,
Mr. Frye's comment has been removed as have comments which related to his comment.
I must remind you that bullying of other posters will not be tolerated.
It is a basic rule, and one that should be easy to follow. Just leave out the name calling and all will be fine.

Let's not forget folks, this is a parking lot, not a speedway. People are entitled to walk from the store to their vehicle. I have witnessed many times, people driving through parking lots at the same rate of speed that is designated for our streets. It is up to the motoring public to take caution in a parking lot. After all, we have children, senior citizens, and people with disabilities making their way trough these parking lots. This reckless driving is being carried out in every parking lot in town, and on every street.

The majority of Prince George drivers should be taken off the road, and sent back to a recognized driving school. It should be one that specializes in driver aggression! Most of you are out of control.

The blowing of STOP SIGNS is the worst, but there are many more infractions that are also very dangerous, and practiced often on our roads. Speeding, running red lights, illegal left turns, illegal right turns, failing to stop in the second lane for a pedestrian, and the big one Bullying. Yes folks, just like in the school yard. The tough guys (4 X 4's) want to show us how big and strong they are, so they drive with out consideration for the rules of the road, or for that matter, anybody else's well being. You know who you are, clean up your driving act!
I have no information as to the reasons for the cause of this accident but I just want to voice my general observations from both sides

First off, I have noticed that far too many people drive way to fast in parking lots around town. From their speed it has appeared to me that stopping on a dime would be nothing short of a miracle. This scares me.

Secondly, it amazes me how many people walk across a roadway in PG and do not continually look both ways AS THEY ARE CROSSING.

Yes I agree, many people do look both ways before they enter the crosswalk. However once they start crossing they neglect to continue looking. I've seen many a close call using this scenario. You gotta look both ways even as you walki across the street.

Now remember, my comments are not directed at anyway towards either of the individuals involved in this accident.

But it was the result of this accident which got me thinking about this!

Have a great day!
re: billposer's comments

Great comment billposer!

Wearing dark clothing at night is such a risky venture.

I'm sure all of us have come across pedestrians and cyclists who were wearing dark clothng at one time or another. You just don't see them until you're right on top of them (like billposer commented).

When I was young and thought I was immortal I used to do this very thing without even a second thought. Today I wouldn't dream of it.

Funny how we change as we age.

Parking in the lot of Stupidstore sucks. If you are backing out, people walk by either pushing a shopping cart or dragging their brats. They won't wait a second or two while you back out. They gotta get by you during. Same with drivers. Very frustrating. Parking in fire lanes should be clamped down on. Not at all at Spruceland mall but Stupidstore. City planners don't think ever to include taxis or waiting vehicles when planning parking lots. But then again, why should they?
