Prince George, B.C.- Building permits are showing a positive gain in Prince George over the same month in 2009.
There were nearly twice as many building permits issued last month (31) as there were in February of 2009 when just 16 permits were issued. Despite the difference in numbers, the overall value of permits is only slightly higher than in February of ’09 with $10.5 million dollars worth of permits issued last month compared to $9.8 million dollars worth in the same month a year ago.
The bulk of the value can be credited to the foundation for the parkade for the new Cancer Centre. With a value of $7 million, had that single item not been on the list, the monthly value of permits would have been held to just under $4 million.
Here are some of the other highlights:
• 325 Brunswick Street, Tenant Improvements, Northern Health Authority, $273,000.
• #156 3055 Massey Drive, Tenant Improvements, The Children’s Place, $231,651.
• 280 Victoria Street, modifications to existing air conditioning unit, Oxford Building, $231,777.
• 7754 Lemoyne Place, Water Lifting Station for Residential Development, Fortwood Homes, $250,000.
• 8 Single Family Dwellings, $1,901,580.
