Prince George, B.C.-  At 8:50 this morning, the students of Duchess Park Secondary will walk from their old facility on Ross Crescent to their new school at 747 Winnipeg Street.
The new school was built at a cost of $40 million dollars (correct, previous story did not include the amount from School District 57) and it took 20 months to build it.
“The school is an efficient and environmentally sustainable building” says School District 57 Board of Education Chair Lyn Hall. The Province paid $35.5 million for the project, while the School District provided the additional $4.5 million.
“The new school provides a bright, wonderful learning environment for our students” says Hall.
The New Duchess Park Secondary has room for 900 students from grades 8 to 12, including a 250 student French Immersion program and 50 students for the Conseil Scolaire Francophone (School District 93).
