Another Avalanche Claims Another Life

Revelstoke, B.C.- One person is dead, another injured as a result of an avalanche in Eagle Pass near Revelstoke.
At 3:57 this afternoon, the Revelstoke RCMP Detachment received a report of an avalanche occurring 1 km past Eagle Pass Peak on Eagle Pass Mountain, near Three Valley Gap Revelstoke BC. The avalanche involved a group of snowmobilers and has been categorized as a large slide (Class 4).
The Revelstoke RCMP is coordinating the response with the assistance of the Provincial Emergency Coordination Center with rescue resources activated at the time of the report. Rescue teams have been dispatched and include SAR from Revelstoke, RCMP Southeast District Air 3, and RCMP Avalanche trained service dogs.
At this time RCMP confirm one person is deceased and one injured, rescuers are currently attempting to determine the size and number of the original group to confirm wether the two were the only persons involved. The BC Coroners Service has also been advised and have commenced their investigation.
