Public Service Workers Receive Awards

Prince George B.C.- The accomplishments of B.C. public service employees and their northern partners have bee officially recognized with the Premier's Innovation and Excellence Awards.
"These awards recognize our best and brightest employees who have contributed to the BC public service through innovative ideas and progressive solutions, teamwork and leadership," said Premier Gordon Campbell.
"We appreciate the work of our dedicated provincial employees who consistently bring excellence to the broad range of services they provide."
This year, employees from the North region received awards in the Cross-Government Integration, Organizational Excellence, Partnership and Service Excellence categories.
"Public service employees live and work in over 280 communities in every region of the province," said Citizens' Services Minister Ben Stewart, whose ministry administers the awards.
"These awards are one way to honour the achievements, successes and commitment of employees in all parts of the province."
Staff at the Integrated Land Management Bureau received an award for their collaborative consultations on the proposed Mt. Milligan gold-copper mine.
The Ministry of Forests and Range were awarded organizational excellence honours on the Northwest Forest Restoration and Enhancement Program.
Two awards were given to the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Petroleum Resources for their achievements in the North. The ministry worked with First Nations to create a youth training
program and a strong, positive partnership with the Northeast Energy and Mines Advisory Committee.
