Prince George B.C.- RCMP have made an arrest in connection with a sexual assault that happened more than 8 years ago.

In November of 2001, a Prince George female was walking near the Connaught Hill area when she was hit in the face, rendering her temporarily unconscious. She was dragged into a vacant lot where she was sexually assaulted.

The male suspect, not known to the female, ran from the scene following the assault.

Since then, the Prince George Detachment continued to review the file along with the RCMP Forensic Lab. As a result of enhanced biological testing and investigation by the Prince George Serious Crime Unit, a suspect has been arrested.

53 year old William Garnot of Prince George has been charged with aggravated sexual assault and uttering threats. He has been remanded in custody until a further Court appearance later this month.

Awesome to hear there may be justice after all this time!!
finally some actual police work that means something in this city
Eight years since the (alleged) crime. Two or three years to conduct a prosecution and a defense. And then a "minimal" sentence. Won't surprise me. And life goes on.
why do people always say " oh they will just be out in a month"..can tell you never been to jail before..this guy will be in remand doing dead time for a year before his case even begins and with the dna evidence theres a good chance he will get 10 years..
but ya they should just kill the guy instead in front of the mrpg sign
