Prince George, B.C.- In the wake of the  resignation of Kash Heed from his post as  Solicitor General, Premier Gordon Campbell has announced  Attorney General  Michael de Jong  has been appointed  acting Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
For the duration of the interim appointment, de Jong will continue to hold  the office of Attorney General.

Kash Heed resigned from the post earlier today  following  news  of an RCMP investigation into  alleged  Election  irregularities in his riding.  Heed says he has done nothing wrong and there is no  information to suggest Heed is under investigation.

What is going on with the BC Rail trial I wonder at this time?
I believe the B.C. Rail trial will begin in mid May? Eagleone.
Unfortunately,I don't imagine it will take defense lawyers very long to have it delayed again, or even tossed out,if it does get going.
Old legal trick...the longer you delay a trial, the better the chances of having it thrown out.
Seems there are too many dirty noses involved, and if Basi and Virk go down, they are going to sing like a couple of canaries.
And promoting the judge in the middle of the trial is unbelieveable.
My guess is everyone walks.
It is pretty obvious the Premiers office has been stonewalling this from the begining, and the lack of media coverage is concerning as well.
There was a time when they would have been all over something like this, but we have seen very little interest.
A stinky one indeed...very stinky.
As far as de Jong taking over the Solicitor Generals post, once again we see Campbell recycle another puppet from his inner circle.
If you are on the backbenches in the Liberal government, you stay on the backbenches...forever.
Nobody from the outside ever gets in to the inner circle, and I doubt de Jong's experience has much to do with him being slid sideways into the post.
The last thing Campbell seems to want is new talent asking questions.
Looks more like closing the ranks and there is nothing new there!
The BC Rail trial will get started but no one will remember anything, case closed.
