National Victims of Crime Week

Prince George, B.C.- Monday April 19th marks the start of National Victims of Crime Week and it will be marked with a series of workshops and a special celebration in Prince George.
The three locally based Victim Service providers in Prince George (Elizabeth Fry Society, RCMP Victim Services and the Aboriginal Community Based Victim Services-Native Healing Centre) will hold workshops in room 3016 at the Court House.
The first session is set for Monday from 1:30 – 3:30. Facilitated by the Elizabeth Fry Society, the session will cover the dynamics of abuse and specific crime types such as sexual assault and partner assault.
Tuesday, from 9:30 top 10:30. The RCMP Victim Services workshop will examine sudden deaths, serious crimes and specific crime tupes, such as home invasions and murders.
The third workshop will be facilitated by the Aboriginal Community Based Victim Services-Native Healing Centre. Set for Wednesday it will deal with services specific to the Aboriginal community and healing components.
Then on Thursday evening at the Ramada Hotel, Prince George RCMP Detachment Superintendent Brenda Butterworth- Carr will be the key note speaker at the event which will celebrate the victim service work being done in Prince George. The Ramada event is open to the public, it starts at 6 p.m.
