Two Died in Crash East of Vanderhoof

Prince George, B.C. – Two young women from Prince George were killed in a two vehicle collision on Highway 16 near Mapes Road last night.
Prince George Regional Traffic Services, along with Stuart Nechako Traffic Services in Vanderhoof, are investigating the crash which took place around 9:13 last night. The highway was closed for several hours while the Collision re-constructionist examined the scene to gather all evidence to determine the cause of this deadly crash.
The young women were traveling west bound when they crossed the center line and collided head on with an east bound 5 tonne truck. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the truck were taken to St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof, but were not seriously injured.
The police continue their investigation, and although the exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, speed is considered a factor in the crash. No names are being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
