Flames and smoke could be seen rising from the rear of 140 Quebec Street one block away from the parkade

Prince George, B.C.- Damage is extensive in a fire that destroyed the rear of  Eric’s World of Leisure at 140 Quebec St. Friday night.

The fire broke out shortly after  9.30pm. When fire crews arrived heavy black smoke was coming from the back and rear roof areas of the building.

It took more than 20 firefighters and five trucks to quell the blaze. The rear of the building received heavy damage but fire crews were able to protect adjoining buildings.

There were concerns about toxic spa chemicals, particularly chlorine and bromine stored on the site.

No one was injured in the blaze and no estimate of damage is available.

Sure is a lot of fires lately!
Who ever that damn arsonist is, he or she needs to be caught. So far no one has been killed or severely injured, but that's been only luck so far.

Dan Rogers, cleaning up downtown one building at a time?
I wonder how we are doing statistically with the number of fires we have in our downtown compared to other cities of similar size.
I would think theat this fire would be electrical and likely not arson like the ones in the VLA. Unless we have another bunch at it.

Gus, I think its a major fire to the owner and employees, so what was the point of comparing it to a volcano.
He spoke .... no doubt it is as you wrote ...

But it is also as I wrote ...

In life, everything is relative. I chose one relationship, you chose another. Neither is right or wrong. Neither is postive or negative, good or bad. Your's is compassionate from a personal point of view. Mine is concern about a global point of view. Both are important.

Here are some more.
- from a PG firefighter's point of view (this versus PG Plywood for example??)
- from a Vancouver firefightter's point of view
- from an owners point of view
- from a community's point of view
just to name a few.
It didn't say Major fire, it said Major damage.
