Prince George, B.C.- 2010 is turning out to be a very bad year for those in the grow-op business in Prince George. The RCMP have just released information on their 17th  grow op bust this year in the city.

Yesterday,  officers executed a search warrant on a home in the 12000 block of the Hart Highway.  Inside they found 700 marijuana plants, equipment  and a hydro bypass.

The investigation is on going.  Officers are still trying to  locate the owners of the residence.

Way to go, boys and girls, hope you catch some OC's
BIG Whoopee....All the dope smokers are still getting their stuff. It is obvious to me that the majority of the stuff being bought comes from the gangs and not the local growers. How many of these were gang operations? Zip! Go after the gangs...*shaking head
People out of work!
not out of work, Self employed.

Considering my meager paycheck, I have been considering this agricultural enterprise.
I have been on the straight and narrow all my adult life. I still don't have squat. This is looking very appealing. Even IF I get busted, whoop tee do, out the same day and a couple of court appearances for a fine unless they loose the evidence, then it is Scott free.

Not a gangster or anything. Just really frustrated and disappointed with my lot in life. Living pay check to pay check is not living, it is just existing.
AND, it is only against the law IF you get caught!
The liberals want everyone to be in the same boat Loki. It's all part of their corporate agenda.
So why aren't they using the money and resources to bust the crack shacks, and crystal meth labs instead?
its about time we got tough on crime.. make em pay!
"Considering my meager paycheck, I have been considering this agricultural enterprise."

What do you do when the gangsters come around looking for their cut of your proposed operation? They're not real big fans of competition from what I understand.

"Considering my meager paycheck"
I think that covers that.

Giving up a little bit of taxation for an ROI measured in orders of magnitude rather than in mere percentages would be a small price.

In this case, there is little difference between those gangsters seeking "their cut" and how our government reaches into our wallets. Plus, there would only be 1 level of taxation and all would be visible, effectively above board. Contrast that against our legitimate government and their actions of late.
The "gangsters" will not come looking for anything if you are maintain a small "mom & pop" operation, a person would only really need about 10 plants maximum in different stages of growth to maintain a constant supply and that would service approximately 10 "customers" comfortably.
If you think the government is bad, I would suspect the gangs would cut much deeper and you would be back to square one, with the added twist of the threat of physical harm to boot.

It's interesting that you draw the comparison between governments and gangs. I would guess that the gangs wouldn't offer a medical system or build schools or roads with their cut.

As for what they may or may not consider 'competition', I have no idea.
It was never stated that I think the government is bad. I implied that they were at least on par with gangsters in their behaviors and in their methods. To put it another way, gangsters are forthright about their business practices whereas the legitimate government not so much.

As to social service provided. Gangsters are a subset of any society, yet apart. They do not pay medical insurance. Nor do they go to the same medical facility as you or me. They have an entire underground network of service providers that includes doctors or those thinking they are capable of being a practitioner to provide those services. Granted there are no assurances of quality of care or safe practices standards. None the less, they still access those services, just not in the same way you or I do.

Of course my plan would include paying the legitimate government taxes and medical insurance. My self employment income would be claimed as agriculture.
I will have to mostly defer to your intimate knowledge of how gangs work. As far as calling gangsters 'forthright', I guess they might let you know when they're going to break your leg or burn down your house or worse... I don't see this as a good thing, but that's just my perspective.
