Courthouse Evacuated

Police have cordoned off the Courthouse

Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George courthouse has been evacuated because of a serious threat.

The area around Third and George Streets has been secured and police are searching the building.

Corporal Dave Tyreman says two police dog service units are checking the building for anything that may be out of the ordinary. That search is expected to be complete in about an hour.

Corporal Tyreman says the threat came in around 9:25 this morning, just minutes before Court was to start it's sessions for theday however, there is nothing to indicate if the threat was related to any specific court appearance.

The court schedule did have a couple of major cases set for today including an appearance by Micheal Bartley, the man charged in connection with a double murder near West Lake in March.

If you're a patron of the legal system, it's almost assured that you're disgruntled... so there's millions of suspects.

That could be almost anyone, victim or perpetrator. Please remember that there are enough people here that feel that the system is not tough enough.

It cuts both ways.

Then again, there might be some people that look at that building and think it is the provincial northern capital building and think they are showing their displeasure with the way the northern half of the province is run. :-)

imo it is probably someone who had to go to court today and didn't want to face their charges or what sentence they are about to receive so................. it only costs a quarter to stop that from happeneing today!!

and then try to find a payphone downtown pg!! LOL good luck!!

thanks for the heads up on the cost!! sheesh!! imagine when I found that payphone, I still couldn't call someone that cared!!! LOL

Me thinks someone was getting sentenced today,or someone didn't want their sweetheart to go to jail, or someone wanted to postpone a trial.
Someone wanted to do the crime but not the time.............
All sorts of reasons for phoning this in and yup they could just be a little ticked with the system.
I know a few people who work there, thank god nothing happened. They work for you and me...........
