Prince George, B.C. – The annual Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for life begins at 10:00 at Masich Place Stadium this morning.  For 24 hours after that, individuals and teams will be on the track, walking to collect pledges for cancer research.

The Relay for Life has three components.  It starts with a celebration, in which cancer survivors make the initial lap around the track.   The second component is to remember, and as night falls, Masich Place Stadium will be aglow with candle lit luminaries which bear the names of some who have been lost to the disease and others who are battling through it.  The third component is to fight back, with a closing ceremony that calls on the community to carry on the fight against cancer so that one day this disease will be history.

While each participant is committed to raising at least $100 for the Canadian Cancer Society through the relay, the average participant raises $350.

Good cause, but, they should have one every week, then there wouldn't be as much cancer to cure :)
