Prince George, B.C.- Prince George Airport CEO John Gibson has been elected to the Canadian Airports Council (CAC) Board of Directors, as one of two Directors representing the Small Airports of British Columbia and Alberta. John is also the Vice Chair of the Small Airports Caucus of the CAC.
Through this Directorship the views and issues relevant to Northern BC and Small Airports will be represented in Ottawa through the CAC. Issues of great significance and that will be focused on being Open Skies and Cost of Doing Business at Canadian Airports.
The Open Skies lobby pushes for air bi-lateral opportunities be given to the carriers to decide where to fly based on their ability to recognize market needs and respond; not on Government-determined priorities, rules or protectionism. For Prince George, it means Open Skies for cargo and technical-stop operators, in particular.
The Cost of Doing Business relates to implementing regulations pertaining to air safety and security that are based on basic risk management principles, as well trade opportunities. Hence the lobby for airport-driven processes that meets the needs of the aviation community and its customers.
“I am honored to have been elected to this position” exclaimed Gibson. “Small airports, our city and our region will now have a national voice on issues that affect us all.”
John Gibson accepted the position as CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority last June and was previously the VP of Marketing for Hamilton Airport.
