Feds To Help Pay Ice Jam Damage Bills

Prince George, B.C.- The ice jam and floods of 2007 may seem a distant memory to some, but the Federal Government has just come across with more dollars to cover some of the damage.
The Federal Minister of Safety, Vic Toews has announced the Federal Government will cost share eligible provincial bills that were racked up through damage caused by the flooding in December of 2007. The Province has indicated the initial estimate of the damage caused by the ice jam and flooding to be in the $7.5 million dollar range.
The City continues to apply for flood mitigation funding. There are a number of projects already in the works, including the second phase of upgrades to River Road.
