Prince George, B.C.- Prince George City Council will meet this evening and will receive a report on the  Revitalization tax exemption program.

The City would like to introduce a new Revitalization Tax Exemption program, but realizes the existing program has been less than successful in attracting either development or renovations to downtown properties since it was introduced in 2005.   A consultant’s report suggests a new ten year term, which would provide a percentage municipal tax exemption on varying styles of development on the base assessment, not on the value of the renovations or the value of the increase in assessment as is the current case.

Also on the agenda, an update on the 2015 Canada Games bid. The bid must be submitted by May 28th and must include payment of $400 thousand dollars.

Council will be also asked to approve setting aside a little over $63 thousand dollars for the removal of the canopies from George Street. The funds are to come from the Downtown Task force contingency fund.
