Peace Region Drug Crackdown Nets Charges

Prince George, B.C.- In October of 2009 the RCMP North District Drug Section (Prince George), Dawson Creek RCMP and Fort St. John RCMP initiated a drug enforcement operation targeting drug trafficking activities in the Peace River Region of B.C. Undercover operators were utilized to make evidentiary purchases of drugs and infiltrate the organizations controlling the drug trade in the area. The project ran from October of 2009 until May of 2010. A total of 15 cocaine trafficking charges have been laid against 11 accused. During the operation police officers purchased amounts of cocaine ranging from two grams up to a pound. In addition to evidentiary purchases made, approximately $42,000.00 cash was seized along with a 2006 Lincoln Navigator. Dawson Creek charges (all charges are for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act): Fort St. John charges (all charges are for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, contrary to Section 5 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act): Many of the accused have been arrested and released pending their next court appearance. Arrest warrants have been issued for those that have not yet been located and arrested.
