Prince George, B.C.- Northern Bear Awareness says there have already been 72 black bear complaints and 6 grizzly bear complaints, in Prince George, with two black bears having to be destroyed last week.

The Northern Bear Awareness Society (NBAS) is back up and running for the season, and says there are some simple things residents can do to avoid bear-human conflict:

·        store your garbage in a garage or shed and to put it out the morning of garbage day rather than the evening prior.
·         put your bird feeders away for the summer and replace them with a bird bath, and
·         ensure composts are kept aerated and mixed at least once a week.

Bear move on ,or I will move you of my Land plenty of Land here with no Man living on it, no need to hang around my Place. Looks like some of our Citizen are afraid of Big Brother to help them self.
Where are these grizzlies coming from. At one time the closest Grizzlies were in the Bowron Lakes, or Mcride (McGregor Mounain) area.

Prince George City has a radius of approx 10 Miles. So they would have to be in pretty close if in fact they were in Prince George.

Perhaps they mean the Prince George Regional District.??????
I talked with an older lady last week. She had a small bear messing up her yard. No garbage and no smells - just a curious bear. She told me the CO's told her to build a bigger fence and that just made her mad. She has lived there off Haldi Rd for 40 years and told me there never was an animal problem until they stopped people from hunting up there. She also has moose and deer problems. I wonder if the CO's can recommend a type of fence, with a reasonable price, to keep the moose out? I told her to phone me next time and we will cure the bear problem. Moose is another story. Too hard to conceal the evidence.
Most of the time its people over reacting that's the problem. Bears snoop around, and they lurk in the dark through our yards at night all the time. Nine times out of ten no one is the wiser because usually the bear will avoid the human contact if possible, and then move along when the coast is clear.

A tip I have is to use a wood screw in the city garbage bin on the front, so as to allow for a bungy cord to secure the lid. After many attempts the bears have yet to get my lid open with this simple add on. I watched one bear one night struggle with it and it eventually gave up and moved along... probably told all its friends to avoid that house.
I live within a 10 minuted drive to Spruceland Shopping Center. I get regular visits from bears, moose, dear, fox, wolves. I would guess the number of sitings of the larger animals to be 50 plus already this year. Rather than try to kill them we prefer to take pictures. Just yesterday a momma moose walked within 50 feet of our house with a very young calf.

We have a good fence around our home and keep our dogs inside the fence, the rest of the property is for all our 4 legged friends to enjoy.
Wind life is one of the reasons why I like it up here. I mean if you see a bear I would just leave the animal alone and keep off the phone. He'll move on. I hate to see bears get killed. Don't panic just a dang bear. Geez we all live in a forest. It's their domain mates. Not ours we built there.
