Regional Parks Up for Discussion

Prince George, BC.- The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George will be putting it’s Regional Parks plan up for public scrutiny this evening.
 
A special open house has been set for tonight at the Civic Centre in Prince George for the public examine and offer comment on the plan.
 
The plan, as received by the Regional District Board of Directors at its last Board meeting, calls for some immediate work to be done. The high priority projects are:
Cedarside:
·        Fencing around pine beetle managed area and a reforestation plan
·        Install barrier and signs, restore steepbank to lakeshore
·        Install highway signs
Giscome Portage (Huble Homestead Historic Site)
·        Invasive plant removal
·        Install highway signs
Harold Mann (Eaglet Lake)
·        Install a picnic shelter
·        Install road signs
John Dahl
·        Install designated parking area
·        Install a second pit toilet
Koeneman
·        Riparian restoration
·        Install highway signs 
Kristian Winther
·        Riparian restoration
·        Invasive plant removal
·        Install highway signs
Ness Lake
·        Mitigate lakeshore erosion
Wilkins
·        Install highway signs
 
The report also outlines a number of sites which the Regional District may want to consider trying to purchase in order to develop future Regional Parks. The sites are located at:
Tabor Lake, one of two possible sites in the Hixon area, Horseshoe Lake and McKirdy Road (CranberryMarsh).
The report suggest other action with respect to the  Ancient Forest, Willow River, Fort George Canyon, Vivian-Verdant Lakes, Wilkins/McMillan Creek/Cranberry connections, and Summit Lake recreation areas.
 
This evening’s open house starts at 7:00.

honestly i have lived here for 3 years and have only heard of one of these parks "Ness Lake"
I have worked in the tourism industry for my whole working life but I will tell you
this town is a joke when it comes to tourism.
Yes and we pay a guy big money for that joke!
John Dahl recreation site is a great one with lots of potential IMO. Would be nice if they had camp sites there....
