Kinsley now Auditor for World Winter Cities Association for Mayors

Mayor Colin Kinsley has been elected Auditor for the World Winter Cities Association for Mayors. The post was previously held by the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The announcement came from the World Winter Cities Mayors Association conference in China where Mayor Kinsley and City Administrator George Paul are delegates.

The Mayor says he continues to make important Asian connections, including the Executive Vice President of the Changchun Organizing Committee for the 2007 Asian Winter Games . Those games are set for January 27 and 28, 2007and will involve 40 Asian countries. The Mayor is now hopeful connecting with those participating nations will increase the potential for having their respective Olympic teams train in a Prince George.

The Conference will conclude with an announcement of the 2010 Conference Host Community . Prince George is bidding for that conference.

At the previous conference he was elected Vice President, which gave him an excuse to attend this conference. Now he is elected Auditor which will give him an excuse to attend the next conference. The real kicker is he is trying to get Prince George to host the 2010 Conference, that along with some other indications tells me that our illustrious Mayor intends to seek another term as Mayor. Anyone want to bet.??

I agree with the Rudy thing insofar as we are a little City that wants to be big. We are the only City in Canada attending this Conference and nobody seems to be able to grasp how this makes this Conference insignificant, if it wasnt then it would be attended by hundreds of municipalaties, or are we the only City in Canada that has the intelligence and forsight to see the beneifts of this type of thing. Our Mayor gets paid approx $384.00 per day (Gross) including Regional District, and his buddies who are travelling with him would probably get at least half that amount. So that is approx $800.00 per day before any expenses. He will no doubt attend the next conference as auditor and take some people with him so who know what the final tally will be. Three conferences at $800.00 per day plus expenses.

My feeling is that nobody really cares.

i would hope this position includes an expense account that will cover his costs or at least releave a portion of ours.
