Walls Case In Court

By Elaine Macdonald

Tuesday, January 17, 2006 10:15 AM

The preliminary inquiry into the Doug Walls, Mike Millard case is underway.

There is a publication ban in effect for the proceedings in that Provincial Courtroom, so we are not able to tell you about information being presented to the Judge.

We can tell you the two are charged in connection with a cheque kiting scheme that left the CIBC $1 million dollars in the hole.

At the time, Doug Walls was one of the owners of the Fred Walls and Sons Ford dealership and Millard was the  Chief Financial Officer.

Wow, imagine that. An information ban on a politically sensative court case. I never expected this.
We can't say they are getting a speedy trial either....ooooops maybe I shouldn't give them an arguement to have charges dropped....
It will be interesting to see if any of the media make an application to have information released. Usually they do, but I haven't heard of it this time. Is there a reason why (a silly question perhaps)?
I'm pleased that this case is finally going to court.

It must have been a difficult time for Doug Walls and Mike Millard. Both local men who have grown up here and served in this community for most of their lives. Things must have been quite desperate for them to try to hang on as long as they did.

I would think that the outcome was not what these local homegrown boys would have liked to happen.

I am willing to extend Doug and Mike grace at this time. I believe that justice will be served. After all, they didn't kill anyone. Percy
Ya i agree, percy I think you are saying some of the dumbest junk that I have yet to hear on here. Except for maybe some of Donnnie mackenzie's posts.

later............
Thanks...spankeeeey
Go get him Don, that wasn't nice.
While I sometimes ( Okay usually) do not agree with Don...that was uncalled for and rude.
Extending grace will be one of the most difficult things you will ever do, especially if you feel it is undeserved. I don't expect you to understand. Percy
