Prince George- Members of the Prince George RCMP Downtown Enforcement Unit were patrolling the back alley behind the Prince George Citizen at nine this morning, when they observed two males openly using crack cocaine.

The members attempted to arrest both males for possession of a controlled substance, when one male became violent and refused to comply with the members. The male was brandishing a broken glass crack pipe in his hand and refused to give it to the Officers. The male was then taken to the ground and handcuffed before anyone got injured.

The 32 yr old male was held for court and charges of Resisting Arrest will be submitted to Crown Counsel.

Find out who supplied the crack, find out who supplies them, bust that group.

I am not impressed with accidental police work that only nets a victim, er, an addict. Use this opportunity to find the main supplier(s).
Are they back out on the street yet? Most likely with BC's hug a thug program.
Can nobody see that money needed for rehab type places for these people will pay back in spades on the courts and jail side? There is no where to put these people but we will spend endless money on judges and lawyers to keep the revolving door open for them. Does anyone believe they got the money for thier crack legally? If not then where did it come from? Police are investigating thefts, people are making insurance claims, business is losing product - the money all comes from somewhere. We need secure hospitals to lock these addicts up in safely until they are no longer addicts. I know that sounds "bleeding heart" but whats the alternative? Spend the money anyway in court and then turn them loose to commit more crime?
This is still a huge issue. I think they should have safe injection site where they can fix heroine and crack safely off the street and away from the preying eyes of the R.C.M.P.
What they need to do is build a centre that has about 20 rubber rooms and detoxify those walking dead people. Tough love. Cold Turkey,if they can survive crack then they would survive a rubber room.
I see you boys/girls have all sorts of solutions for the down and outers, now lets hear how you would handle all the coke sniffing, marijauna smoking, whisky guzzling, prescription drug users, who are Doctors, Lawyers, School Teachers, :Police, Airline Pilots, and every other kind of person you can think of.

If you think the down and outers are generating millions of dollars in drug revenue for organized crime you are sadly mistake. These people have very little money. The big money comes from the high rollers in our society, and the general public.

Let hear your solutions to the whole problem.
uh Palopu - I didnt say that was an answer to all drug use. When was the last time the police arrested an airline pilot in a back alley doing crack? When was the last time a Doctor broke into a car to get a couple bucks for his next fix? Im talking about the people who live for nothing else but thier drugs. You are correct in saying the "down and outers" are not where the drug dealers make thier big money, but I never said that they were. The (as you call them) down and outers do have a huge draw on the judicial system which does nothing to help them. That money would be better spent on treatment IMHO.

You seem to know everything, lets hear your solution to the whole problem.
yeah and what about doctors that prescribe
addictive medication over and over even tho they know their patient is addicted??
oh yeah thats legal;)
Bleeding Hearts, Prince George has to many of them thats part of the reason we are in such a mess, who would want to move here?? we have become a home for the houseless.
