Prince George, B.C - By the end of this month, the Mt. Milligan mine, 150 kms northwest of Prince George, could see more staff arrive on site to advance the construction of the copper/ gold project.

Robert Pease, President and CEO of Terrane Metals Corp. has signed a letter of intent with AMEC Americas Limited and Fluor Canada Ltd.  to provide engineering, procurement and construction management for the Mt. Milligan mine.

AMEC and Fluor will jointly provide services to the project through their British Columbia Mining Joint Venture ("BCMJV").

Key components of the Mount Milligan project include a 60,000 tpd copper flotation process plant, tailings storage facility, plant ancillary facilities, 92 km power transmission line and a 600-person construction camp.

The first phase of a 30-month construction program is now underway. Subject to final documentation, personnel of the BC Mining Joint Venture will be on-site by month-end.

Robert Pease, President and Chief Executive Officer of Terrane stated: "We have secured the services of an outstanding British Columbia-based engineering design and construction management team. This team has earned global recognition, from mine builders and mine lenders alike, for their ability to deliver large-scale projects like Mt. Milligan on schedule and on budget."

Mt. Milligan will provide about 400 direct permanent jobs and significant long-term economic benefits for the region.

Boom times comming
Good news all around. Down side is that Kemess will close next year, and therefore there will be no net gain in jobs, however at least we will not lose any.

Endako Moly Mine has a huge expansion on the go for next year and this will also create a lot of work.

Havent heard anything for over a year about the new ingot plant at Alcan Kitimat. Seems nothing has been said since Rio Tinto bought Alcan.
I dont think the Kemess south story is done just yet.. They have been able to run the lower grade ore because of the high metal prices which may push the mine life beyond 2011. They really havent been too vocal on confirming its done in 2011.

As well they are thinking about trying underground at Kemess north. However this is still alot of speculation. There was a write up about it in another well known prince george media source which the citizens of pg like to read.

There are alot of other deposits close to the current Kemess assets up there so this is also favorable.

Anyhow back to Terrane.. We have been waiting a very long time for this..Been watching this thing every step of the way.
400 jobs....
how does a guy get a job there????
Look for Terrane Metals to open an office soon Boudicca...probably in Fort St.James.
Or,go to their website and send them an email.
Very approachable people, and I am sure they will give you an idea of when they will begin hiring.
Unfortunately,that probably won't be for a while yet,but hey,who knows!
Doesn't hurt to ask!
