D.P. Todd Top High School in SD 57

Prince George, B.C.- Although School District 57 doesn’t support the idea of the Fraser Institute’s ranking of schools throughout the province, the latest report from the Fraser Institute, shows D.P. Todd Secondary has made some major gains The annual report puts D.P. Todd in the number one spot among high schools in School District 57, and 96 out of 288 schools in the Province..
The annual report rates schools on seven indicators:
(1) the average exam mark in the grade-10, grade-11, and grade-12 courses that include a mandatory provincial exam;
(2) percentage of grade-10, grade-11, and grade-12 mandatory provincial examinations failed;
(3) average difference by which the school mark exceeds the examination mark in the courses considered in (1) and (2) above;
(4) difference between male and female students in their exam mark in English 10 only;
(5) difference between male and female students in their exam mark in Mathematics 10 only;
(6) graduation rate;
(7) delayed advancement rate.

That is a considerable change within a year. It looks like the data used is not sensitive enough to provide a reasonably consistent indicator of relative school placement.
It begs the question of what kind of change was made at those schools within a one year period to result in such a change.
