Prince George, B.C.- The Minnesota Wild have chosen Brett Bulmer of Prince George as the 39th pick in the NHL draft.
Bulmer plays right wing for the Kelowna Rockets. Bulmer is listed at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, and posted 13 goals and 27 assists in 65 games with the Rockets last year. He also scored three goals and two assists in 12 WHL playoff
games.
"Brett is a hard-working, physical player that is a strong skater and has good puck skills," said Wild amateur scout Paul Charles.
Bulmer is termed a "late bloomer" both in stature, and in his hockey skills. He was 5-foot-7 during his Bantam draft year, and wasn't taken in the WHL Draft until the 11th round. Since then, he has grown five inches and developed his game.
"Brett is a bigger forward that has very good skills for a tall man," said his junior coach, Ryan Huska. "The more experience he gets, the better he has been getting."
Yesterday, Prince George's Brett Connolly was selected 6th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
