Regional District Chairman and City of Prince George Mayor Colin Kinsley told a Regional District meeting Thursday, “With any luck I will be waving a Canadian flag at the Gold medal hockey game in Torino." Kinsley added that tickets for that match up are $1,000 dollars US.

Exp[ort North has issued a call for  companies, and interested parties throughout the North to join the delegation, but  to date, only a few have answered the call.  While none are actually  signing up for the trip,  the following companies have  asked  this delegation to  promote their businesses  on their behalf:

Willow Ridge Homes of 100 Mile House

The City of Prince George will also host a reception at BC - Canada House.  The Chinese have been invited to attend  that party with a view to attracting athletes to train in this region.

The five opportunities the delegation is focusing on for  economic development are "team hosting, trade, education, tourism and transportation."

Hey Kinsley when are you going to stay home and take care of local business? I see now why you wanted a nother term as mayor....TO TRAVEL... I am glad I lived up to my promise to you not to vote for you....
I wish someone would buy me an all expense paid holiday. I'm paying inflated taxes, user fees, high gas prices and insurance now that I can't afford to go more than 50km on a holiday.

Have fun Kinsley on the taxpayes dollar.
I'm assuming I'm paying for this? If so, I'd like an aisle seat,1st class of course on the flight there and home. As far as hotel accomodations, I'm sure I can stay where Colin is staying.I'm sure it's at least 4 star. Now for the hockey games. Yes games.I'd like tickets to all games involving Canada. Men's and womens. Anything in the first 10 rows, between the bluelines would be sufficient. I look forward to hearing back from you,Your Worship, with my travel and entertainment confirmations.Sincerely; THE GUY WHO'S PAYING FOR THIS ! ! !
Does anyone know who is going to pay for the Mayors $1000.00 ticket?
Are we just going to keep on whining or are we going to stop this clown and his arrogant attitude toward the tax payers?
I am retired and have lots of time to devote to this effort. Anyone interested please sign on. I'm sure we can find a way for making contact.
That gosh darm Mayor.
After all these trips we will be lucky to intrigue enough people to P.G to cover our investment.
I would expect that his expense account does not allow for the purchase of hockey tickets at one thousand dollars U.S. a pop!

But, perhaps a high Italian official will recognize him as being a visitor from the country of Alfonso and find a way to get him some free tickets!

Viva Italia!
The truly sad part of of this if it is true that if the Mayor's job is to look after all the citizens, how can he possibly relate to the poor and the homeless; who are also a part of this City
The mayor of our city has a responsibility to attract commerce and trade in our city. His travelling to other countries and promotions of this city should be welcomed. We don't live in a self-contained bubble of prosperity. Prince George is positioned on the world stage in lumber and other resources, we need people to promote it and be proud of it. Get off the bandwagon of local and personal issues, the global game in the information age should be part of the mayors role. It's not like I voted for him as mayor, but we don't live in a world of black and white. I accept him as gray. We could do far worst. I wish him the best. Besides, it's not all about the US philosphy of money and wealth.. Prosperity is about culture and lifestyles too.
Mcduck. It is about local issues. Thats why we have a Mayor and Council. They certainlty have some responsibility to Promote the City, however, this Province, and Country have many high paid trades people, and Government Officials, to promote BC and Prince George. In addition Private Enterprise Co.s, such as Canfor, West Fraser, etc; have sales offices all over the world to sell their products, and have done so for the last 20/30 years. Long before Colin Kinsley came on the scene, and they will continue to do so long after he has left. His primary function, along with the Councillors is to look after the Business of this City. The fact that Prince George is the only City in Canada attending this Conference speaks volumes. I suggest that the other Citys have decided that it has no value for them, and therefore chose not to attend. No doubt Kinsley will go to Greenland in 2008 for that conference as he will be the Auditor for the WWCAM at that time. Maybe he can make a promotion for Greenland to look into importing some of our ice.

In any event unless Colin runs for Mayor and gets elected again he will not be here in 2010 to host the Conference and I suggest he will not be too concerned whether it is a success on not.
Just reading a book recommended by the Globe and Mail in which Prince George is mentioned - unbelievable - written by a Canadian. It is "The Time In Between" by David Bergen. Mind you, don't buy it, it is just a mention.
Colin said he had $5.00 when he came to Prince George and he seems to be very impressed how far that $5.00 has taken him.
That gosh darm Mayor.
