Former Cougar Now a Canuck

Prince George, B.C. - Former Prince George Cougar, Dan Hamhuis, is now a Vancouver Canuck.

Vancouver Canucks President & General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have signed defenceman Dan Hamhuis to a six-year deal. In keeping with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Hamhuis, 27, recorded 24 points (5-19-24) in 78 games with the Nashville Predators in 2009.10. In six playoff games he registered two assists.

The 6’1”, 209-lbs. defenceman has registered 161 points (32-129-161) and 375 penalty minutes in 483 regular season games with the Predators. He has collected nine points (1-8-9) and 18 penalty minutes in 28 NHL playoff
games.

Hamhuis has played for Canada at two World Junior Championships, registering four points (0-4-4) in 13 games and capturing bronze and silver medals. In four World Championships with Canada, his 14 points (5-9-14) in 36 international contests have helped Canada to a gold medal and two silver medals.

The Smithers, BC native was originally selected 12th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators.

Awesome, great news for Canuck fans and Northern BC.
Excellent! Now I can route for the Canucks,although they ignored the whl and BC boys in the draft. Be nice to be able to watch Dan play now, as Nashville wasn't on the tube much!
