Dunster, B.C. - School District 57 has been granted an injunction to force the people who have been occupying the Dunster School, off the premises.

The occupation started on Monday as the School was into its last day of classes, and possibly last day of ever being open.

The Dunster School is one of the schools that will be closed by School District 57 .

Whether or not the injunction will be obeyed is a different matter . Some parents have indicated they are willing to disobey the court order.

School District 57 has been working with the Regional District of Fraser Fort George on a possible solution to the Dunster situation. It is possible the people in that area would see their Regional District taxes increase in order to purchase the building from School District 57 and SD57 would then provide the programming.

That won’t happen in time for the new school year this September though so it is likely Dunster students will be on a bus to McBride for their classes for the 2010/2011 school year.

Just hire some of those G-20 cops; they will make short order of that occupation. They will club, kick, beat and threaten to rape them.
I guess there might just have been some money for this school if we were not building giant cost overrun monuments to gordo.
Our children who are our future why would we consider even tampering with their education. We have a billion or more for a stupid convention, the Olympics and the list is long on how our tax dollars are wasted on pet projects and education gets the shaft..

Education should be free to all. It is the cure-all for many of our social ills but it appears no one has the vision to see the benefit. Is our society to sick to find a solution?
Cheers
Leave the parents in there. SD57 won't have to hire security then to protect the school.

They are just "house sitting" while the "owner" is on vacation.

Wait, what am I saying. WE are the owners.
The injunction is perfect symbol for how messed up the district's unsustainability committee has been over the last 5 months. They've managed to anger rural communities, french immersion parents, teachers, students, pretty much everyone with weird bait-and-switch decisions and failed promises. Meanwhile they've got a surplus for next year and have magically found money for building projects and renovations around the district. So much for board office cuts. No administrators lost their jobs and they've actually increased their travel budgets for next year. This will help them fly south to acquire more injunctions. Go, Dunster, Go!
