Prince George, B.C. – The City’s plans for a Downtown District Energy System will be the focus of an open house tomorrow evening.
City staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide details of the project which is being planned in conjunction with Lakeland Mills.
Under the agreement, Lakeland will provide the bio-mass for the energy system which will provide heat to a number of downtown buildings such as the Coliseum, Library, Civic Centre City Hall the Four Seasons pool and the Coast Hotel.
The new system is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as it will reduce the number of truck loads of bio mass that will have to be hauled away from the Lakeland mill, it will also reduce the City’s carbon footprint as the City switches to bio mass heat as opposed to using natural gas.
The meeting is set to start at 6:30 in the Second floor Conference room at City Hall.
